SOCCER.COM Create an Account (October 2005)
Primary Goals: Simplify the registration process for people who need to create an account on Soccer.com. Add help text that was in plain sight, without dominating the page layout via CSS/Javascript.
Secondary Goals: Transition the old registration page from a nested table based layout to a more accessible CSS/XHTML based layout.
Project Details: Our old registration process was a two page process whose code was a nightmare to maintain and was very time consuming to fill out. I worked with our back-end development team to reduce the number of form fields that needed to be filled out in order to condense the form to a single page. We went from a number of daily complaints about our registration process to a couple per week. (Nobody likes to fill out forms).
